About
Connecting people and resources on land and sea
The North Olympic Peninsula Recompete Coalition includes multiple stakeholders on the Olympic Peninsula with one shared goal: To connect residents to good jobs and invest in projects that will have a lasting positive impact on the economy of the region.
What is Recompete?
Recompete is an initiative funded by the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) to create and connect people to living-wage, local jobs in Clallam and Jefferson Counties. The goal of the project is to increase employment for those aged 25-54 on the North Olympic Peninsula. The North Olympic Recompete Coalition secured $35.6 million as one of six recipients nationwide.

Who do we serve?
The Recompete Pilot Program is designed to primarily serve residents of Clallam and Jefferson Counties, ages 25-54, who are currently not in the workforce. Our goal is to provide resources to help connect these individuals to good jobs on the Olympic Peninsula.
Beyond those demographics, coalition partners aim to serve all North Olympic Peninsula community members. Programs may have different eligibility requirements.
Recompete partners are also working with local employers and small businesses to identify workforce needs, small business advising, small business loans, and other supports.
Who is involved?
Clallam County is coordinating the overall Recompete efforts, but the work is a team effort implemented by numerous public and private partners. The North Olympic Recompete Coalition consists of multiple local governments, tribes, ports, economic development agencies, educational institutions, community-based organizations, non-profits, healthcare providers, and more.
How did we get here?
Industry decline
The forest products and fishing industries declined on the Olympic Peninsula, resulting in job loss and economic depression.
