Job Skills Training
Recompete is working with local education partners to create industry-specific education opportunities. Our goal is to equip you with the skills needed for a good job quickly, so we are focusing on short-term stackable certificate programs, as well as long-term programs. We are also focusing on education in natural resources, welding, construction technology, and transportation because these skills are in high demand and have pathways for high-wage jobs.
Mobile Classrooms
Peninsula College will launch two mobile classrooms to bring skilled trades to the West End of Clallam County and the East End of Jefferson County, addressing access barriers for those in remote regions of the Peninsula.
The intent is to bring short-term skill certificates to communities where there is employer demand for that skill, with a goal of immediate pathways into local jobs.
The Mobile Welding Program will start in January 2026, and the Flex Programs (Marine Tech, Construction, etc.) are expected to start in Spring 2026.

Skilled Trade & Natural Resources Programs
Peninsula College offers Skilled Trade degrees and certificates that provide industry-specific skills with pathways to high wage careers. Among many education opportunities, Peninsula College offers programs in Welding, Construction Technology, and Natural Resources.
Through Recompete, Peninsula College is investing in student success by hiring a student support navigator for students enrolled in the Natural Resources program. This position will help connect students to support services, career pathways, and more.
Northwest School of Wooden Boat Building (NWSWB)
If you can build a boat, you can build anything. The Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding's programs emphasize hands-on training and real-world problem-solving to prepare the next generation of craftspeople and tradespeople. From shaping planks and lofting designs to wiring marine electrical systems and maintaining engines, students gain practical, tangible skills that open doors to meaningful work in the marine trades and beyond.
NWSWB offers a 12-Month Boatbuilding Associate of Occupational Studies Degree (AOS) Program, a 9-month Marine Systems Diploma Program, and multi-day Marine Systems Intensives.
Scholarships, federal financial aid, and veterans benefits available for those who qualify. As a Recompete partner, NWSWB is able to expand capacity by supporting students with additional equipment, staff, and student support.
